Fun day exploring the Gorge. Kim, Mike and Mikayla came up for the afternoon. We had a great lunch of salad, meats and cheeses. After lunch we drove to the Klickitat River, just north of Lyle, Wa there is a large concentration of Native American’s fishing. This year's Salmon harvest is reported as the biggest ever since official counts started in the 1950’s at Bonneville Dam. It was amazing to watch the salmon jump up the falls. Every time they would dip a net in the water they’d catch a giant salmon within a minute. After watching the fishing we drove to a wild salmon stand by Mother’s Deli and bought a 7lb salmon and 1lb of smoked salmon for $50 (about $7 a lb for fresh caught. After delivering the fish to our refrigerator we drove to Rasmussen Farms. After a bit of walking around we were offered a taste of an Elstar apple. A much tastier version of a Gala, but rich in flavor like a Pink Lady. A good day exploring finished with fresh salmon for dinner.
